Race Morning, in front of the Fairfax County Government Center - 7:00-7:45 am.
NEW FOR 2015 - This 5k is a USATF-certified course (VA15038RT - course map located HERE) starts and finishes at Fairfax County Government Center, and runs on the surrounding roads.
The 2015 Crime Solvers 5k is a 2015 RunWashington Ranked Race.
The race will be chip timed by raceDCTiming.com. Results will be posted to their results page race day. Runners must wear the chip assigned to them to be timed.
Kids Fun Run:
There will be a free kid's fun run following the 5k at 8:45 AM. The Kid's Fun Run is for children age 10 and under. An adult may also register to accompany a young child at no cost. Please note, each individual participant must have their own registration and bib number.

From I-66: Take Exit 57 B - West (Rt. 50). Pass the exit for Fair Oaks Mall and then take the south exit for West Ox Road. At the 3rd stoplight turn left onto Monument Drive. At the 3rd stoplight, turn right onto Government Center Parkway. Fairfax County Government Center is on the left.
From US-29: Take Monument Drive to Monument Corner Drive-Turn into the Shopping Center- Follow the signs. Fairfax County Parkway – Turn East onto Fair Lakes Parkway, headed towards Fair Oaks Mall. At the 3rd stoplight, turn right onto Monument Drive. At the 2nd stoplight, turn right onto Government Center Parkway. Fairfax County Government Center is on the left.
The Race Starts & Ends in the front of Fairfax County Government Center near the address listed above. Signs will be posted at the entrances to the Government Center on Race Day to direct participants to free Parking and Race Day Packet Pick-Up and Registration.
Post Race Festivities:
We've got some great things lined up post race, including:
* Just Announced: Homicide Hunter star Lt. Joe Kenda will emcee the Crime Solvers 5k, wishing runners well at race start and signing autographs with finishers and their families. Kenda made a career solving murders with the Colorado Springs Police Department and now shares those stories on the hit Investigation Discovery show Homicide Hunter: Lt. Joe Kenda.
* Your favorite Crime Dog (and ours), McGruff, will be on hand cheering you and the Kid's Race participants on! If you're good - he may appoint you a Jr. Crime Fighter!
* We'll have DJ Bob Artman on hand, getting the party started!
*In addition to the Co-Ed Team Challenge, there is also a Public Safety Challenge among the Police Dept, Fire Dept, and Sheriff’s Office. As part of their participation in the Crime Solvers 5K, each department will have vehicle displays out for you to visit and learn more about their invaluable service to the community. Some of the displays on site will be:

Fairfax County Sheriff’s Office Motorcycle Unit
• Bring some cash. The following food vendors will be on-site with food and drink, with a % of proceeds from the sale of any item, going toward Fairfax County Crime Solvers:
o Rita's Water Ice/Sully Station will be selling their delicious Water Ice post -race.
o Foster's Grille/Westfields will also be on hand with the following: Egg Sammies with or without Cheese -$3 (on English Muffin or Croissant), add Bacon or Sausage for $1.; Cookies are $1 or 3 for $2.
o Bar-B-"Que" Divas Rib Ride will be at the event with their full menu, along with a Crime Solvers 5k Special - $2 Pulled Pork or Beef Brisket slider with a side of choice.

Frequently Asked Questions:
Is there any SWAG? 5k runners will receive a New Balance gender-specific technical race tee, with the race logo on the front. Runners must pre-register to guarantee their Crime Solvers 5k race shirt. Packet Pick-up & Race Day registration race tee availability on first come, first serve basis.
May I pick up a packet for friends or family? Yes, you may pick up a packet for someone else. Please make sure they are aware that you will be picking up their packet.
May I register during packet pick up? Yes, you can.
May I wear headphones during the run? Yes, headphones are allowed at this event. However, wear at your own risk; you are responsible for being aware of your surroundings and courteous to other participants.
May I run with a stroller? Yes, strollers are allowed on the course. Due to safety concerns all strollers will start at the back. Please be mindful of other runners when running with a stroller.
May I run with my dog? Dogs are not allowed to run in the event, but are welcome to watch.
Will there be a water stop? Yes.
What is your refund policy? Unfortunately, there are no refunds for this event. We also do not accept transfers or deferments for this event.
Is there a baggage drop? No.
Is there a team competition? Yes. We will have a Co-Ed Team Competition. The cumulative times of the top 3 finishers will determine the team champion (minimum 1 male, 1 female per team). There is no minimum to the number of runners on a team. On the registration page, choose your appropriate Team (or create a new one) under the Co-Ed Team tab to begin your registration.
Crime Solvers 5k is home to the Annual Public Safety Challenge between the Fire Dept, the Sheriff's Dept, & the Police Dept. The Public Safety Challenge has two ways to win; The Team with the most participants will win the Public Safety Challenge Trophy, and the Team with the top 4 scorers (min 1 male, 1 female per team) wins awards for the top 4 scorers, as well as bragging rights as the fastest Public Safety Challenge Team. On the registration page, choose your appropriate Team affiliation under the Public Safety Challenge tab to begin your registration.
Are there Awards? Yes. Prizes will be awarded to the top 3 overall M&F and 3 deep in the following age groups: 19 and under, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70 and over.
Is there a time cutoff for the event?All Runners and Walkers will need to be able to complete the 5k course in 60 minutes.
Will there be race photos? Yes. Free race photos will be available for download at YoungRunnerPhotos.com.
